Dimensions: 16 x 12 Artist's Statement about this work: I am interested in exploring the social in my work, or conversely, the formalistic beauty of humanity. I wrestle with the idea of the social aesthetic. How when objective forms in art are substituted for subjective ones, the composition and design changes in its complexity based on a shared experience of humanity. It is the social space between the subjects, including the viewer, that charge my figurative work with meaning. This painting has to do with the piety of the everyday.
Dimensions: 14 x 22 x 1 Artist's Statement about this work: I always enjoyed the solitude of riding my horse out through the Canyon Country around St. George. This painting appeared in the book, "The Way to Angels Landing."
Dimensions: 14 x 10 Artist's Statement about this work: This is a rock formation in Capitol Reef -- one of my favorite places to paint. The light and shadows are so dramatic, and the textures are so varied!
This was not a plein air painting, but was done later, in the studio. The effects of light were achieved by pouring the paint in transparent layers rather than applying directly with a brush.

Dimensions: 31 x 25 x 0.75 Artist's Statement about this work: The sensation of the wind brushing against my face while riding my bike is unparalleled, a feeling of freedom that began at the tender age of five. Aboard my own red tricycle, I would zoom around the block, embracing the ultimate liberation that childhood offers. "Vintage Trike," an original watercolor painting, seeks to capture that essence of freedom and nostalgia. It depicts an old, red tricycle inside a collector’s shop, inviting viewers to reminisce about their first taste of adventure and the simple joys of youth. What memories do you have of your first tricycle ride?

"Olsen Granary #4"
Wm Conrad Bowen
$4,680.00
Email: conrad@1to1Greetings.com
Dimensions: 18 x 30 x 1 Artist's Statement about this work: Conrad grew up in Paradise, Utah and he loves to go back and paint and draw images in the neighborhood. This is an image he created of the old Olsen Granary located near 9200 South 100 East. In this painting, Conrad had fun exploring a liberal color palette & values. He started the painting laying down bright washes in the shadows on his pen & ink drawing on a stretch sheet of bright white textured watercolor paper with Alizarin Crimson, Cobalt Blue, Phthalo Blue & Prussian Blue. In the beginning it was a pretty intense experience laying down those bright washes independent of anything else. As the painting developed and he added more value and color it all came together down to tinting the cloud cover with a touch of pink toward the end of the painting helping tie the whole thing together.
